MYP mathematics help students specifically to prepare for the study of Group 5 courses in the IB Diploma Programme. The emphasis at MYP is to develop a strong mathematical knowledge base and skills that will allow students to study a wide range of topics in IBDP.
The use of technology, which is required in IBDP mathematics, is emphasised in the MYP as a tool for learning and communication. In view of this, MYP4 students were introduced to the use of the Graphic Display Calculator (GDC). Students were taken through the basic functions (bracket key, enter key, power key, rounding off key, the menu and scientific notation), secondary functions (2nd key, alpha key and shift key) and the graphing functions.
