The TIS Interact Club is still in the business of touching lives and creating an impact within the immediate community. Interact is a sub-club under Rotary International dedicated to six areas of focus to build international relationships, improve lives, and create a better world to support our peace efforts and end polio forever. Disease prevention and treatment is this year’s area of focus for the TIS Interact Club.
The main project for our Interact year is to purchase Veronica Buckets for community local schools within our neighborhood. Each Veronica Bucket cost is GHC 388 for the full set and our target is to raise GHC 5000 to provide these local schools with the means to have clean water available for the children and adults to wash their hands. As a club, we believe the constant washing of hands prevents the actions of germs which act as causative agents of many different diseases. Through this project, the club wishes to not only raise awareness about the importance of washing hands regularly, but to also do something about it. Throwing a stone at two birds, the club members learnt the skill of liquid soap making and selling their own product.
During the just ended 3-Way Interviews, members of the club sold the liquid soap they produced. The marketing team had the opportunity to tell parents about their project and the support was massive, as it was sold out within a few hours. We also went round with tally cards and realised a substantial amount of funds. Together with the sales, the club is confident about the success of the project. The total amount raised at the 3-Way Interviews was GHC
